3. Read passage.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader who wanted everyone to be treated equally. He worked hard to help people during the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement was a time when people fought for fairness for all. Dr. King believed everyone should be treated the same, no matter the color of their skin.
Dr. King taught people to have empathy, which means understanding how others feel. He wanted people to imagine what it was like to be treated unfairly. Many people faced discrimination, which is when someone is treated unfairly because of who they are. Dr. King worked to stop discrimination.
Dr. King also fought for justice, which means fairness for everyone. He gave speeches and led marches to help make the world a better place. One of his most famous speeches is the “I Have a Dream” speech. In it, he talked about his dream of a world where all people are treated equally.
Martin Luther King Jr. worked hard for peace and fairness. Because of him, many laws were changed to help people live better lives. Today, we remember him as a hero who stood up for justice and empathy.
