TEKS & Objectives
7.12 Measurement and data. The student applies mathematical process standards to use statistical representations to analyze data. The student is expected to:
7.4.E convert between measurement systems, including the use of proportions and the use of unit rates.
We will examine water displacement as a measurement tool.
I will visually represent the volume of irregularly shaped, solid objects.
1. Complete warmup.

2. Watch videos.
3. Take a turn playing “Dinosaur Dive” a water displacement game.

4. Test your skills.

Alternate:

A variety of volumes cut and paste
5. Watch a clever bird use water displacement to get a treat.
6. Try it Yourself!
- Use tweezers or needle nose plyers as your beak.
- Displace water with pebbles to reach your floating treat.
- Try to predict how many pebbles you’ll need.
7. “Measurement Challenge 1”

6. Practice at Brainzy.
