1. Review vocabulary and complete quiz.
Astronomy This is the study of space.

Chemistry This is the study of matter, its properties and how it can react and change.

Paleontology The science of studying fossils (the remains of ancient life)

Engineering Engineers use science and math to design, build, and create solutions to problems & make things like bridges, machines, and computer programs.

2. Watch video of a cargo drop.
Cargo is whatever is being carried by ships, trucks, or airplanes.
What are some reasons you think people might have to drop cargo from a plane? (Highlight the text below to read some reasons)
There are no roads there.
Roads have been destroyed by an earthquake or washed away by a hurricane.
People need supplies like food and water in places without roads.
What is a problem you might have dropping something from a plane?
Whatever you drop might break when it hits the ground.
3. Solve the problem and engineer your own air drop vehicle.

I was so close to buying my dream car, I just had one final question for the salesman.
The pessimist says the glass is half empty.
“Cargo space?” I asked. After a moment of confusion, the salesman replied,
“No, car go road.”
