We will investigate the properties and purposes of materials.
I will experimentally test the properties of matter.
1. Review vocabulary
Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space.

Density determines if something will float or sink.

Solubility measures how well one thing can dissolve in another.

Conductivity measures how well something can allow electricity to flow through it.

2. If you have access to Netflix, watch “Slime Time,” Season 1, Episode 6 of “Emily’s Wonder Lab.”

Think about how you would describe the physical properties of slime.
3. Make slime one of TWO ways:
Make slimy slime (without shaving cream).
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup washable school glue.
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
- 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of contact or all-purpose solution.
Make fluffy slime (with shaving cream).
Ingredients:
- 1 – 2 cups shaving cream
- 1/2 cup white school glue (4oz bottle)
- Food coloring, optional
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon contact saline solution
All these websites asking me to accept these cookies…
But I still haven’t gotten a single one!
4. Extension: Test the solubility of your slime. If you made both versions, test them both.
- Take a small sample of each type of slime.
- Attempt to dissolve each in water.
- Is either type soluble?
