Gold is a rare metal (not easily found). This natural resource along with platinum, silver, and some others are referred to as precious metals.
Fossil Fuels are used for energy. Oil, coal, and natural gas deposits are found underground in some parts of the world and were formed from decomposing plants and animals.
Conservation involves preventing wasteful use of resources, protecting species from extinction, and maintaining and restoring habitats.
Conservation Biologist is a scientist that studies human activities like mining or logging to record the affects these activities have on the other living things in those environments.

4. Learn how to pan gold, and then try it yourself!
People are STILL making a living mining for gold in the United States. Here is the star of the Discovery TV show, “Gold Rush,” with a quick lesson in gold panning.
Now try to pan yourself! Don’t get too excited… you might find some pyrite. It looks like real gold, but it’s another type of mineral. Have fun!
