Deforestation Cutting down large areas of forest
Fossil Fuels Coal, oil and natural gas are fossil fuels. They form from deep in the Earth from dead plants and animals. It takes millions of years for them to form.
Natural Resources Anything from nature that living things can use
Conservation The careful use of resources so that they will last as long as possible
3. Reuse materials that would otherwise be thrown away.
Option 1:
Upcycle a foam tray into stamps.
- Upcycling is a form of DIY recycling. You take one object and creatively repurpose it be used in a different way.
- At school, our meals are served on foam trays. At home, we often buy meats that are sold on foam trays.
- Cut a foam tray into any shapes you would like for your stamp. You can now use stamp ink or coat your stamp in paint and use it!
- You can also make handles for your stamps by gluing on soda caps, peanut butter caps or disposable cups that you were going to throw away.
- You can always get more creative ideas by searching “upcycling” on YouTube.
Option 2:
Recycle old milk jugs into suncatchers
- Draw designs onto the sides of a gallon milk jug with Sharpies.
- Carefully cut out your designs.
- Color your designs with markers or suncatcher paint.
- Try adding stickers or rinestones.
