Life Cycle A series of stages a living thing goes through during its life

Metamorphosis Changing forms dramatically over the course of a life cycle

Larvae This is the immature form of an insect that often undergoes metamorphosis. Larvae look very different than the adult bug they grow into thanks to the life cycle. Caterpillars are examples.

Chrysalis This is a hard shell made by a caterpillar, moth or other insect in which a metamorphosis happens.

Germination The process of a plant starting to grow from a seed

Seedling A young plant that has recently started to grow from a seed, usually only a few inches tall, with roots, a stem and just a few leaves
