We will explore the rights and responsibilities of citizens of the United States.
I will identify specific ways to show respect in school.
1. Review vocabulary and complete assignment.
Bully This is a person who likes to scare or harm people they think are weaker.
Disability This is a condition that may limit a person’s ability to do some things.
Liberty This means freedom. For instance, it could be the freedom to say their beliefs or opinions.
Happiness This is a warm, bubbly feeling of joy and positivity.

Embracing Differences
What it means: Everyone deserves the liberty to be themselves and to feel safe. Some people have a disability that makes learning or moving in certain ways harder, but that does not make them less important.
How we act: When someone is treated kindly, it brings happiness to them and to others; when someone is mean or acts like a bully, it hurts people and takes away that safety.
What we can do: We can include classmates who are different, ask how to help, speak up if we see bullying, and remember that being kind helps everyone enjoy school and feel free to be who they are.

- Do you think the judges made assumptions about Kody when he first came on stage?
- Were they surprised to hear Kody’s singing voice?
- Why shouldn’t we make assumptions about other people we don’t know?
- Is it possible for someone with a disability to be VERY good at some things?
- Are we all good at some things and less good at other things?
