Experiments in Sound

TEKS & Objectives

7.7. Force, motion, and energy. The student knows that there is a relationship among force, motion, and energy.

8.8.C identify how different wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum such as visible light and radio waves are used to gain information about components in the universe

7.2.B design and implement experimental investigations by making observations, asking well defined questions, formulating testable hypotheses, and using appropriate equipment and technology

We will explore the relationship among force, motion, and energy.

I will investigate the practical effects of energy transfer.

1. Watch video

2. Review vocabulary and complete quiz.

Amplify is to increase the volume of sound.

Resonance chamber is a hollow chamber that amplifies (increases) the transfer of sound wave energy from a vibrating object to the air. It makes things louder.

Megaphone is a large, funnel shaped device used to amplify sound by directing sound waves in one direction.

Frequency refers to how fast or slow a sound wave is vibrating.
