Look at the chart below.

- What do you notice?
- Every number ends in the digits, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 0!
- Whenever you count by 2s, no matter how high you count, your numbers will always end in one of these digits.
- That’s how we know a number is even. All other number are called odd.
- We call a number even, because we can divide it evenly by two.
Let’s look at an example:
- If I had a pizza with 4 slices…

- We would be able to give two people two slices each (2 + 2 = 4).
- The pizza would be shared evenly.
Can this be shared evenly?

4. Practice identifying even and odd quantities.
