7.1.A demonstrate safe practices during laboratory and field investigations as outlined in Texas Education Agency-approved safety standards

We will explore the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and resources.

I will identify safety equipment and procedures.

1. Review kitchen hazards.

2. Watch short video.

3. Read about four categories of food safety.

Clean Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, as well as fruits and vegetables.

Separate Keep produce (fruits and vegetables) away from raw meat.

Cook Use a food thermometer to test the temperature of meat before your serve it. Click here to learn safe temperatures for different items.

Chill Cold foods and leftovers should be refrigerated less than two hours after cooking or shopping. Refrigerators should be chilled to 40 degrees or less.

4. Identify good safety practices.
