7.1.A demonstrate safe practices during laboratory and field investigations as outlined in Texas Education Agency-approved safety standards

We will explore the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and resources.

1. Know your hazards.

Hazards These are dangers resulting from unsae conditions or behavior, or from lack of safety precautions. There are sevral categoireis (see below)

Fire Hazards These are the conditions or behaviors that increase the chances of an unitntentional fire.

Physical Hazards These dangers include burns, cuts, slips, trips and falls.

Biological Hazards These dangers involve bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or anything that can cause an infection.

Chemical Hazards These are caused by dangerous, nonliving substances that can cause harm. They can commmonly be found in cleaning products, automotive fluids, batteries, fuel, medicines and pesticides.
