Immune System TIt is a special team of cells inside your body that act like a shield or army to fight germs and protect you from getting sick.
Allergy This is when the body’s immune system mistakenly treats a harmless substance (it may be food or something else) as dangerous. Instead of protecting the body, the immune system overreacts, causing uncomfortable symptoms such as sneezing, itching, or a rash.
Allergen This is soemthing tha tmakes a person’s body overreact and feel sick, even though it doesn’t bother most other people. It is the “trigger” that causes an allergy = the “thing” you’re allergic to. Common ones include pollen, pet dander, eggs, peanuts, and bee stings.
Anatihistamine This is a type of medicine that helps stop mild allergy symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, or a runny nose.
Epinepherine The is a special medicine used to help people breathe better and feel better if they have a very serious allergic reaction. It is sometimes called addrenaline, and it is the medicine found in an EpiPen.
EpiPen This is a special, easy-to-use medicine pen that holds epinephrine to stop a dangerous allergic reaction instantly. It helps a person breahte agian if they are having a severe allergy emergency. It can be injected through clothes.
Medic Alert Jewelry This is a special bracelet or necklace worn to keep a person safe. It has important healht information written on it, such a serious allergies, medicine needs, or health conditions. They have a medical symbol that is easy to recognize.
