3. Test your blink reflex!
Did you know…
- People typically blink about 15 times per minute.
- If you are awake for 16 hours each day, then you blink approximately 14,400 each day!
- Blinking when you see an object coming toward you is an involuntary reflex. Let’s test it!
Steps…
- Cover your eyes for safety.

- Have a partner (or a teacher) gently toss cotton balls one-by-one toward your face. Did you blink?
- Try tossing it at your own face shield. Does knowing that it’s coming help you to not blink? Or do you blink anyway?
4. Try the “knee jerk reaction.”

- Let a teacher do this.
- Don’t use a hammer!
- Use a rubber spatula or something similar.
Speaking of reflexes…
I have developed cat-like reflexes…
I react to things by taking naps.
