8.6.A demonstrate and calculate how unbalanced forces change the speed or direction of an object’s motion

We will explore forces of motion.

I will test the relationship between an object’s motion and the forces acting on it.

2. Review vocabulary and complete quiz.

Force A push or a pull that can cause the motion of an object to change. It has two important properties: strength and direction.

Balanced Force When two equal forces act in opposite directions the result is that the forces are balanced and there is no motion.

Unbalanced Force When one force is stronger than the other the result is motion.

Gravity A force that attracts objects toward the earth. “What goes up, must come down!”

3. Try the DIY egg drop activity in the video.

4. Watch how the famous “tablecloth trick” works and try it yourself!

5. Try a game of classroom bowling (if time permits)
